Can anyone tell me if Homeworld Cataclysm will run on Windows XP?

It will play the opening credits of the game and then a box comes up saying there is an error and it must close. How do I fix this?? Please help!

direct x should be easy to patch as its likley to come on the disk. so just make sure you use that version.
also you may have to run it in win 98 mode as xp doesnt have an xp compatability mode.
if you want it to run on 7 you will need to install it as administrator and run it as such. if you dont the game wont have enough permissions to run or create folders on the primary partition.
compatability mode on win 7 should be set to xp at the least and turn off the themes and high dpi settings... hopefully this will be enough to get it to run...

remember though 64.bit o.s 's have 1 major flaw as far as backward compatibility. 64 bit windows doesn't recognize 16bit installers at all. if your game is pre 2002 its likely that it will have a 16bit installer so will be a pointless effort if you dont have a 32bit o.s.
