So there’s a Asus MG279Q with Free sync for £445 (Ips 2560x1440)
OR
Asus PG279Q with G-SYNC for £700 (Ips 2560x1440)

The only main difference looks like the freesync version has a bigger bezel.

I don’t wanna be mugged off paying an extra £255 for something that may not even be needed, i have a gtx 1080ti.
Please honest opinions is [strike]gysnc[/strike] G-SYNC needed?

Solution
needed - no.
It's a nice thing to have, but if you computer can maintain high and stable FPS, it's kinda unnecessary.
Some people claim that they see the difference (no g-sync vs g-sync). personally I cant see it even with GTX 1070 if I tune my games to run at over 100 FPS.

Solution
In this case, no, Gsync only really comes in useful at low frame rates where it's much smoother than normal Vsync, or even Freesync.
Just set the sync option in the Nvidia control panel to 'adaptive' and leave Vsync off in all your games and you'll be fine with the cheaper Freesync panel.
