I don't think so. Just like the first mining boom, as long as people are willing to drop extra cash to get the limited supply, prices will remain high. And you have at least four factors in play.

  1. Pandemic, more people building gaming PCs + shortages caused by plant shutdowns are now being felt.
  2. Crypto mining once again at the forefront (people are mining with laptops this time...)
  3. New cards are actually significantly better than the previous generation.
  4. At least in the US, tariffs and cost of materials has gone up

Quite the rush for everyone to get Pascal when it came out. First die shrink in a long while. Similar case here, and AMD has a competitive product for the first time in a while.
