Hook RGB light strips up to games?? Turn red when you are hurt, etc.

I noticed that on RGB keyboards some games take over and make the light flash red when your are hurt etc. I have RGB light strips under my desk shinning through the fogged glass. Is there anyway to hook LED light strips up to games so the game would take control of them?

Games controlling them? Not possible without the developer supporting that. Lights reacting to something on-screen? Not too difficult if you have a raspberry pi, some RGB sensors, and a controller for your LED.

if you find a keyboard that has keys flash when taking damage, it should be technically possible to use the keyboards guts or tap into the board to trigger a switch which can turn on auxiliary lighting.

doing it from scratch with no software and no hardware behind it? thats not going to be an easy road.
