Hooking a regular DVD player to monitor???

I bought a 4k DVD player and a 4k monitor. The monitor has 2 hdmi ports, the DVD player has one plus an HDMI audio only.
I want to hook the monitor to both my pc and the DVD player and then plug hdmi pc speakers into the HDMI audio only port of the DVD player when I'm playing a DVD.

So I'm wondering if that will work. When I turn on the DVD player and start a movie, will that override the computer screen or will I have issues?

Should work, you may need to manually select the correct input on the monitor though via it's controls.

The manual does say there's an input, but it looks like you can only switch between hdmi and display port.
It says: If you use HDMI PC, it can cause compatibility issues.
That doesn't make sense. But I guess it will work if I hook the monitor to PC via display port and the dvd player via hdmi.
