Hooking New Laptop up to 144hz Monitor?

Hello everyone,

I have just bought a new Dell G5 laptop (GTX 1060, 16GB Ram, i7 8750) and I am wondering if it would be worth it to buy a 144HZ monitor for it. However, i'm a little confused as to if I can even get 144HZ out of this laptop.

I read that HDMI 1.3 is only 60HZ but 2.0 supports 144HZ?

The monitor only supports 144HZ via DVI-D.

My laptop only has an HDMI 2.0 output. If I use a HDMI to DVI-D cable will i achieve 144HZ?

I apologize in advance because I know this has been asked a lot, but I have found a lot of conflicting information and now i'm very confused.
