hooking up two monitors

I am trying to hook up two monitors' to one computer however I cant get it to show separate screens, it will only recognize monitor 1 and that screen is across both.
I am using a 2-port UXGA monitor splitter. Not sure what I am doing wrong or what to do to get this to work.

I tried something similar and it also didn't work. I used a DVI splitter that hooked 2 monitors to the one DVI input.

You basically need 2 inputs on your video card for it to work, from my experience. That's how I got my 2 monitors hooked up.

2-port UXGA monitor splitter Is you issue.. only one output. You need a digital output to run multiple monitors from one port so DVI/HDMI or Display port for that.

I take it this is a old PC?
