Horizontal Line Across LCD

A relative recently decided to get another PC and we picked up a VW222U monitor from ASUS to go with it (driven by a 3870).

However it seems to have a line very near the top of the monitor stretching from the left to the right side and about two pixels tall (looks about that size when I get really close).

I'm curious if anyone can help me in figuring out if this is likely a monitor defect or a videocard issue of some sort?

It displays during boot as well as during normal operations in windows (xp). Drivers are updated already.

It's almost definitely a monitor issue rather than a video card issue. Do you have another computer you could hook it to? That would be the best way to make sure.

I would say it's probably the monitor. Try disconnecting the video cable at both ends, then reconnect.

Best thing to do is connect it to another PC, and if the lines are still there, then it is a hardware issue.

Guess I had a major brainfart today when that didn't even cross my mind! Thanks to you both, will be taking it upstairs asap to the other pc.
