HOT Core i5 760 !

Hello,

Yesterday I buy a Intel DH55HC motherboard & a Intel Core i5760 Processor for myself . My processor dials at 44° C at room temperature ( 36° C ) . But under heavy load the temperature reaches up to 80° C . Do I need a third party HSF ?

Your heat-sink must not be seated properly. Remove the heat-sink and clean off the thermal compound that came on it and reapply some new thermal compound this should solve your issue.

Thank you for the suggestion , but I already tried that . can any one tell me , what should be the maximum temperature under heavy load for a long time ( 3 to 4 hour ) .

I am living in Kolkata ( India ) , In summer our highest temperature reaches up to 43 º C . Now I am thinking to buy a CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 . Can anyone suggest me any other cooler at same price .

@ghoshchayan - remove the intel stock cooler and clean the thermal compound that came along with it and apply a silver colored (metal oxide based) thermal compound (not too much ...just a small pea size at bang center of processor) strap the intel stock cooler, then after 5 - 10 minutes (this is important) remove the cooler and see that the paste is spread to all four sides of the base (should not bleed out, this means you have used a lotta thermal compound) if it has bled then use a cleaner and a ear bud to clean the seepage, then refit the cooler.

Temps for i5 760 with stock cooler should be around 30c idle and 45c 100% load if not clocked (reading is as per speedfan and 3-5c more as per real temp)

with the including i5 processor cooler, it does not enough for maintain the processor temparature. so if u could buy a greater thermal cooler & u need it.

Hi ghoschayan, which HFS did you finally choose, and does it solve the high temp problem?

I just bought an Core i5 760, and currently have the same problem.
The idle temp is between 35-40, but it could be 80 on heavy load, especially when playing game.

If it can solve your problem, I think I'll try the same.

Hallo everyone , It’s being a long time since I suffer the heating problem of my Core i5 760 processor . Just after a few days of my last post intel launch their 2nd generation of Core i5 processor and I manage to grab a Sandy Bridge Core i5 2400 + Intel DH67CL motherboard . My new processor idles at 45°C at an ambient temperature of 30°C and under heavy lode like running prime 95 , it’s reaches up to 78°C .

yeah, thats really hot.... I mean, the stock cooler sucks really bad, and your ambient is hot, so I guess thats normal. Did you get a better cooler for the i7? If so, can you put it on the i5?
