Hot gaming cpu temperature

Hi, is it normal for my CPU to have up to 90°C during gaming? Using an i5-8600K with deepcool Gammax 200T cooler. I don't overclock.

Solution
I have three different air coolers to recommend instead from most expensive to least.

The top one is "overkill" to some but it would still be the quietest one. I suspect anything much cheaper than the $50 (ish) Cyrorig H5 Ultimate may cool fine but the noise will rise as fans increase to compensate for weaker thermal dissipation via the heat pipes and fins.

Ideally you install the motherboard FAN SOFTWARE and adjust the fan profile so it maxes out at 80degC during a realistic worst-case (like Handbrake at 100% CPU itilization for 5+ minutes).

How much of thermal paste should I use? Because i think i used too little. Or should I change cooler? I build this pc myself on 27 Dec 2017.

The 200T isn't a good choice for that CPU.

For installation main issue would be:
1) paste amount (roughly 5mm diameter "pea sized" amount is all you need), or

2) heatsink not mounted correctly, or

3) fan speed incorrect (bad profile or bad fan).

4) CPU cooler on max fan speed just not sufficient

Other:
Of course case fans for exhaust (in-line with CPU fan preferably) and Intake (at least one 120mm fan) and ambient room temp are other factors.

*However, if 90degC when just gaming?
That's bad as that never comes even close to maxing out the CPU. With a great cooler that maxed at 80degC (i.e. good Noctua) at 5GHz under full load you might be closer to 50degC when gaming.

SUMMARY:
1) I'd get a better cooler, but
2) your temps still seem too high when just gaming

Having said all that, the possibility exists that it's somewhat HOTTER there than here, that the motherboard does its own overclock, and that your case cooling isn't great so it's possible 90degC is simply what the cooler is capable of with your setup and environment.

I'll post some recommended coolers below.

*Update:
I find a comment that the 200T may not make proper contact to the CPU. That may explain what's going on. I'd also look at the fan profile and set the fan to 100% for now then see how temperature is affected but you don't want anything more than 80degC sustained.

**In fact, run the Intel CPU Diagnostic test whilst monitoring temperature.

So therefore I guess I'll be getting the Noctua D15S then. I hope it can fit to my Phanteks P400 case.

How do I know if a case fan is an exhaust or intake? Currently I'm using the stock case fan by the Phanteks P400 case itself which is pre-installed. 1 for intake and 1 for exhaust. I still have 2 more slots of 120mm for intake and 2 more slots of 120mm on top for exhaust/intake.
I feel like getting the Halo RGB for it to look nicer.

P.s I'm sorry I accidentally downvote on your solution.

Direction of airflow is usually indicatd on the side of the fan frame, when already built in, just turn it on and hold a small light peace of paper in the way of the airflow. You can also wet your finger and hold it in front t of the fan.
Usually fans in the back and front are set as exhaust. So are the pre-installed as well. The case offers 160mm cpu cooler clearance, the D15S is exactly as high. It should fit.

Do you have any recommendations for case fans? Or should I just get another Phanteks which my case has?

Also my case have a top vent. I guess it's for exhaust?
