Hello,

I just got a NAS for all my media files. What I want to do is have two 1TB drives in it in some sort of raid 1 so that they are identical. But I want to be able to pull a drive out and put it in a USB enclosure to take my media with me. Anyone know if this is possible? I do not intend to edit any of the files on the drive that has been removed.

RAID1 only works with two drives in tandum. If you are wanting to take your media files with you - I would suggest utilizing two drives as single drives and using SynchBack Free to synch the data (it will only update files that have been modified after the initial synch).

That is incorrect! RAID1 is a mirror raid. It's not RAID0 or SPAN/BIG. RAID1 supports HOT SWAP and should be working by itself

The issue here is: your windows would not able to read, because it may format under ext2/3/4. Unless 3rd party utility is used. Like this:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsd/
Then you can read the HDD
