I have a
PALIT GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming Pro OC 8GB GDDR6 gpu, and I’ve had a few threads about my gpu being super loud, but I think I’ve actually figured out what’s wrong, I thought it was because the card would hit 83c, after looking into the temps and such I realised it happens when the hotspot hits between 105-107c, this is a whopping 30c nearly hotter than the main gpu, what can I do here? Is it basically the end of the card? Whilst I am getting a new system soon I was hoping to sell this one, but I can’t really whilst the gpu is having issues

hi dreadbeard
i have exactly the same gpu model as u(non oc)
my max hotspot is 94 deg. mine is used and probably mined but im satisfied i suggest you to change thermal paste and pads. or sell cheap to a shop
but i have some freeze(for 1 mill.second) some times at full load in heavy games. do u have this issue too?

I don’t have that issue, everything runs pretty smooth, just the fans get super loud

~20C or lower is typical for that gap.
If that is the case in your signature, that doesn't help operating thermals.

Really could just do with a repaste - do NOT change pads at the same time, that should be a last resort.
Grab some Arctic MX-4, MX-6, Noctua NT-H2... or have someone else do it for you if you're not comfortable taking a gpu apart.

I’ve just realised that the case in my sig was wrong, however that didn’t change much as they are both similar in that there is no intake on the front, only on the back side of the case
It used to run fine right up until I upgraded the ram in the system, then it seems the fan goes nuts, I looked into it now and it’s likely the hotspot being almost 30c higher than the core, I am changing to a completely new system hopefully soon, so I don’t think I’ll repaste it myself, I may just sell it on to someone who will do that

Max hot spot on these things is ~110C, so that explains the fans going bonkers, even if the core temperature is ok.

Well, if you're going to be doing away with it before too long, it's kind of a bygone thing then.

Alrighty! I was just wondering if there was something I could do to remedy it, but I’m not confident to repaste a gpu myself, so I’ll just leave as is for now, thank you for the advice!
