HotU bug question

hi folks, i just bought NWN Hordes of the Underdark and since i've installed
it I noticed several issues when i was playing the NWN campaign and the SoU
one:

- when a henchman is slayed, instead of being stone-ported to the nearest
temple they just disappear like they were definitely dead (at least until
the following chapter).
- when leveling up in SoU (maybe in NWN too, i dunno coz all the available
henchmen were dead before i manage to gather the thousands of experience
points i needed to level up) my henchmen just fail (!?) to level up.
After investigation it seems that the class archetypes have disappeared (!?)
from the character creation menu, so i assume that it's the reason for the
henchmen not to level up with my character (according i believe the NPCs
should follow those archetypes for evolution)

re-installing NWN, then SoU, then HotU from scratch didn't solved my
problem, does anyone here had such an issue and if yes is there a way to fix
it up plz ?

Saving henchmen's lives isn't part of the basic game, so any provision for
it is down to the module you happen to be playing. The OC is very easygoing
about this. In HotU your henchmen just die and lie where they have been
slain unless you Raise or Resurrect them. Fortunately there is a free rod of
Resurrection available very early in the game and cheap ones available at
various points. Speak (nicely?) to the priestess in the basement of the inn
before you head down into Undermountain. I haven't finished SoU But I think
henchmen in the first chapter all have the appropriate ring and get
transported back to the starting place for healing at the point of death. I
don't know what, if anything, happens after that.

Haven't come across this but, of course, only henchmen who are actually in
the party (and alive?) when you level up will gain a level. In SoU & HotU
the level gained is not necessarily in the henchman's first class.

actually i didn't tried the HotU for the moment so i dunno how it's handled
in it. Anyway i played almost 80% of the official campaign before i bought
and installed HotU and then without i change anything in the game
configuration or something the NPC henchmen just started to disappear like
dead instead of respawning in the Tyr temple (and my fighter/thief wouldn't
help to cast a raise of anything.) Anyway NPC died in OC chapter three had
miraculously resurrected at the chapter four beginning until they die again.
In SoU campaign it's a bit different, it seems that instead of instantly
dying, the henchmen do faint on the ground when they are very low on HP that
allows me to cast a lay-hands on them before they vanishe (fortunately this
time i was playing a paladin, if i was playing anything else but a healer
i'm affraid that i would have to play the campaign w/o henchmen again...)
Anyway it is very frustrating as the corpses do disappear after a few
seconds, that is a real annoyance as most of the time it is difficult to
cast a resurrect while being heavily engaged in close combat.

The big issue is that they don't, they just die and their body decays after
a dozen of seconds making them unresurrectable anymore (but fortunately they
reappear, with all the stuff they were carrying gone, on the following
chapter.

well, as far as i know henchmen are always 1 level under yours independently
of being grouped with your character's party, in the official NWN campaign
you just have to talk to them and say them to train a momment for filling
the gap (pretty handy if you change for an henchman you never hired before).
In SoU it seems you just have to talk to another henchmen to make them
adjust their level (even if in my case it fails).
My problem is that instead of leveling up i get a strange error message like
"henchman X have failed to progress in class N" and it's a bit of a
challenge keeping your henchman alive when the mobs are adjusted to your 8th
level and your follower is only thief(1)/cleric(0) due to the impossibility
of levelling up.
for the levelling process i think i'm right coz i got this silly messages
each time i talk them.
Am I really the only one encountering this problem ? Bioware website FAQ's
didn't help.

Sorry I can't help. I've only ever seen the "henchman X has failed to
progress in class N" message in relation to my guardian golem in HotU,
which I didn't really expect to level up anyway.

Hugh.
