Must update Bios to install faster CPU. However, I can't seem to boot system
to DOS unprotected mode for Flash program to work. A little help here,

You haven't bothered to mention the brand/model motherboard, or the
specific brand/revision of your BIOS, so no one can possibly help.

Very carefully follow the instructions provided by the
motherboard's manufacturer.

Hint: You'll need to use an MS-DOS boot diskette for the purpose;
there's no way to boot a WinXP computer into real mode DOS, otherwise.

Thanks Bruce,
ASUS CUV4X-E, ACPI BIOS vs 1002
I downloaded the latest released version, 1004 which allows for the
faster CPU I must install. Lacking a MS-DOS boot disk is precisely the
problem, as you stated, can't get into real mode without it.

Place a blank floppy diskette in the floppy drive, double-click My
Computer > right-click the A: drive > Select "Format" > Select "Create
an MS-DOS startup disk."

Or you can create one from one of the many types at www.bootdisk.com.
