For whatever reason, FaceApp is making news all over the place mainly because the company sources from Russia. Do these lawmakers even know how many kernel level chip set drivers come from China that could grant access to everything?
So could someone please explain the added paranoia to me?
I'm not really sure what the big hoopla is here. It's not like it's any different from 50,000 programs that ask for access to your camera and photo/media folder. A user cannot expect guarantee the security/privacy of that data once you grant them permission. And it's certainly not the first program from Russia.
