Personally I would spend another $100 on a better monitor , and trim costs from things like the case and keyboard if I had to .
Your main interaction with a computer is the screen . It might as well be a good one

No SSD is going to make the build feel slower than it is too

I was able to get an i7 6700 in there as well as an R9 390, which should hold up better than the 970, it has twice the VRAM and beats the 970 in almost every test. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-390-vs-GeForce-GTX-970
