how accurate is pc part picker?

i was wondering how accurate would the power consumption be on pc part picker. it says the system will consume up top 375 watts. will my 550 watt power supply be enough for this if its not accurate? thank you

550w is more than enough for that high quality psu.

it'll run the system no issues at all.

It's one of the more accurate calculators, yet still overestimates. 550W is way more than enough.

You could even run the system on a high quality 450w PSU.

The EVGA 550 G2 is a very good quality power supply

More watts doesn't mean better. Discussing PSUs of the same series (eg. Focus Plus 550 vs Focus Plus 650) Some components are just changed to withstand/deliver higher current. Often times, higher wattage power supplies are louder, since they need a faster fan profile for the extra power requirement. They're also less efficient at idle loads.

OPs system won't consume over 550w. That would require a very power hungry CPU + GPU with overclocking, or SLI. So the higher wattage unit doesn't have any benefits.


OP should only consider the more expensive 650w Seasonic Focus Plus if it were higher quality, or included important aspects that the EVGA lacks, such as quietness.
