Solution
This is what I found to fix the problem after windows installation. You don't need to uninstall windows:

"Instruction: There is one way to fix this, although you need to have knowledge of registry editing.
The detailed steps from Microsoft website are as follows:

Exit all Windows-based programs.
Press [Win] + R or take the RUN option from the start menu.
Now type regedit there and press Enter Key to open up the Registry Editor Window.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.

On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
Restart your computer
Go to BIOS and enable AHCI, Save & Reboot
Another restart will be required to finish the driver installation."

You don't need to do registry settings. This is how I fixed it from a posting somewhere else.
Turn off ACHI. Boot into safe mode. Turn on ACHI. Boot normally. I think that was the order. No need to do registry changes.

Whoops. I forgot that I was running Window 8.

Thanks for your reply my reservation is that I have no knowledge of registry editing at all.I read somewhere that if 'after installing windows7 the blue screen appears I would be stuck as to doing something about it, as I would have no screen. The blue sceen is because windows was unable to boot from achi,(Not that I have it in my integrated peripherals anyway but it may appear ?

It's been a while so I'm reviewing this again from scratch... They way that I understand this is that you have a Windows 7 installation already. You know want to add ACHI capabilities but cannot as the system won't boot when you do so. Yes? No?

From reading your last post let me say that ACHI is set in the BIOS first. Look for options that refer to disk drive (IDE,RAID, ACHI).
