Hello!
I am getting a new laptop next week.
The one I have in my mind has a GTX 1050 and i7 7700HQ in it with 8 GB of RAM.
But, GTX 1050 isn't really enough for gaming at 1080p, high settings for most of the modern games, is it?
It gives around 35-45 FPS for GTA 5 at high settings.
So, I was thinking of overclocking it a bit.
No, I dont know how overclocking works. I have never overclocked anything before.
But what I do know is, overclocking the temperature in laptops to such an extent that it damages the laptop.
And thats why, I am going to invest in a vacuum cooler to cool my laptop a bit.
Can somebody please answer these questions? -
1) How does overclocking work?
2)How do I overclock my laptop GPU?
3)Do vacuum coolers work?
4)Does overclocking decrease the life span of a laptop?
5)Whats the safe temperature for a laptop while gaming?

Thank you!

Solution
Very few laptops support overclocking CPU, even fewer support overclocking the GPU.

On laptops you have a very limited coooling solution that can barely handle stock configurations, it is not advisable to raise laptops beyond that unless they are specifically designed for it.

You have a 1050 GPU, that is the most you can expect out of it. Even pretending that you do have options to OC the GPU, it will get you only a few more FPS while having much more heat and risking damage. Juice is just not worth the squeeze.
