Question How backup/restore personal setting only in Windows OS? not the installed software

Hi All,

I'm looking for a way to just back up the personal setting in Windows such as pinned shortcuts on the taskbar, auto screen off duration, file explorer quick access shortcuts, pinned Start Menu, etc. I just want to back up the setting, not the installed software.

User Profile for Windows will save some things.

You may need to go to the individual browser to save other things such as bookmarks.

I believe a Microsoft Account can back a lot of these up, but otherwise it looks like everything you want will have to take some digging around in either the Microsoft folder somewhere in AppData or in the registry.

If this is something you do often, I'd recommend looking into scripting to automate this.
