hello, i have 2x4GB DDR4 3000MHZ CL15 (Corsair), i want to upgrade to 16 gb cause im having game freezes in diffrent games (i laready formated my pc, it didnt help) - so i belive its because of having only 8GB RAM (i have r5 1600 @ 3.94 ghz, and 1080 gtx so its not the problem..)
i found a gread deal for 2x8GB 2400 MHZ CL17 (Crucial), how big the diffrence will be? im playing only PUBG and Fortnite, i saw a yt video that shows a massive improvemnt going from 2133 to 3000mhz in pubg but im not sure if its true.. what u guy say?

For Ryzen, mem speed can be important. The biggest improvements are between 2400-2933mhz. After that the effect taper of. The default speed for Ryzen is 2133. I have 2400mhz ram Crucial generic type. It OC's well to 2733 with no voltage increase, but with looser timings. Having CL17 2400 won't slow performance in a perceivable way. Some games do get a few FPS extra s- sometimes as much as 10%, but if your gaming at 100fps, and get an extra 10 fps, will you notice the difference? No, you won't unless your constantly measuring your FPS with a tool, or looking for top benchmark scores.

For gaming now, having 16gb or ram, over less faster ram, is a no brainer. A lot of games use over 9gbs of system ram (along with system resources) so with...

I doubt 8gb of RAM is causing your system to freeze, unless you have disabled the page file. Performance would be likely crippled if you exceeded 8gb in use, but it shouldn't freeze. Windows also displays a warning message when you are about to use all your RAM. So I doubt getting 16gb of RAM is going to fix your freezing issue.

Keith12 im sorry for voting down ur answer, im new to the site that wasnt on purpose.. 🙁
Im intrested about what u said, ill share with you my thinking.. (1 us dollar is around 3.7 shekels.)
I will sell my 8 ram for 280 shekels (pretty cheap but no other choice)
And then i have 2 options
1.buy used 8g x 2 2400mhz cl17 in 400 shekels
2.buy beand new 8g x 2 3000mhz cl15 in 750 shekels..
Do u think i shouks get the 2400 and oc it?
Btw just so u know i found solution for my games freezing, it was the geforce exprience which kept recording my games. i deleted that and it fixed it, but this solution is horrible for me causei l really liked the geforce exprienced recording every game i was playing.. 🙁 do uthink the 16gb instead of 8gb will fix it?

well, if Geforce Experiencing it is causing the freezes then, at least you have that sorted :)

ON the ram thing. If it were me, and I had the choice, i'd take the 2400mhz ram and OC. To pay nearly double the price for 3000mhz ram would be like wasted money to me. Havign 16gb will serve you well for AAA gaming, where more system ram is being used. BF1 for example use over 9.1gbs on my system whilst playing. Okay, not all of that is atributable to the game, but you see where it's going!? More resources will help.

Good luck with the choice. Happy gaming :)

okay mate so ill go for it by your advice, do u think we can oc it to 3000 or only 2733 like urs?

:) thats a very good question. OC'ing ram is not guaranteed much like CPU's/GPU's. With that said I think most DIMMS can go one strap higher with no increase in voltage, and maybe a second or third, with a voltage increase. So yes, it's possible. For sure. But keep in mind, it's a trial and error type thing. In the same way you are testing your CPU for stress loads etc, you will need to do that with your ram DIMMS too. Different apps to do it, and it's easy enough. But like a CPU overclock, you wanna make sure the ram is stable too. Don't want those BSOD's springing up randomly :) PM me for more info if you need. Have a look at some vids for OC mem on your mobo, so you can prepare for the OC attempt. But, it's relatively straight forward, as long as you stick to doing it right.

Although mine is running at 2733, i think it can go more. I just haven't really had the time to push them and test, but will do. My objective is to get to 2933 with about 1.35v, but probably very loose timings. Then once I have it stable and tested, I'reduce the timings to improve the bandwidth.

okay thanks so much!! you are very kind for helping me like that, i give u 11 out of 10 :) , best wishes bro thanks a lot, i will pm you if ill have probs.. :)
