How big of an upgrade from Fx 6300 to i5 6500

Looking to upgrade my CPU and just wondering how big of a difference this would actually make.

Current have: Fx 6300, Rx 480 4gb, 8gb 1600mhz ram

Would it make a noticable difference? I know I'll need a new mobo but would i need new ram too?

You will need a new motherboard and ram since skylake uses ddr4 while FX series uses ddr3.

Also it depends on what youre using the system for. If its a cpu intensive game, you will see a decent improvement. Overall the i5 is a much better cpu than the 6300

It will make a noticeable difference in some games. CPU upgrades don't make as much of difference as GPU upgrades, but you will benefit from it in the long run.
