I'm building my own gaming pc at christmas and i need an idea on how much power it needs so i can pick a PSU. My specs so far are:
GPU - GTX 970
Processor - Intel core i5-4690k 3.5GHz
Motherboard - MSI Z97 Gaming 3 intel
RAM - 2x4gb 8gb HyperX Fury
Cooling fan - Cooler Master hyper 212 Evo
SSD - Samsung 850 Evo 250gb
Harddrive - Western Digital blue 1tb
Case - NZXT S340

Thanks :)

Solution
A quality 520-550w psu would be suffiecient.

The keyword being quality!

The Sesonic s12ii 520w or a 550w xfx or EVGA B2/G2/GS would work well for this.

If you go out and buy some cheapo power supply shaped box with a 500w sticker on it, then you will likely fry your $350 GPU and other parts.

I would personally upgrade to an XFX 750W power supply or a Seasonic 720W power supply as the Corsair CX series of power supplies use poor capacitors!
