Question How can I activate and install windows 8.1 on windows 10

I have a windows 10 home laptop that originally came with windows 10 home. I have tried using the setup.exe file in the windows 8.1 iso. (Not the one in sources). There is a screen that asks me for a product key. I have found my product id by using cmd. how can i use this id to activate and install windows 8.1 and get rid of windows 10.

(This laptop was upgraded to windows 11. I downgraded by using the same method as above but there was no product key part in it. How can I install and activate windows 8.1??)

You would have to (somehow) actually purchase a valid Win 8.1 license.
While a valid and otherwise unused Win 7/8/8.1 license can activate a Win 10 or 11 install, the reverse is not true.

I have used windows 8.1 for a very long time. People might think that windows 8.1 looks awful and the start menu is hard to use but i really love the start menu and everything and when i got this laptop a few months back, i eventually got used to windows 10, but still, i really prefer windows 8.1 over windows 10.

you will need win7 or win8 key if you want to downgrade...they should be realitevely cheap as both are unsupported anymore by microsoft
