How can I change cards but continue number sequence? Card 1 ended at 2579 can I start next card at 2580?

I take a lot of pictures my card filled up I put in a new card but would like to see instead of 1 of 1 on the new card 2580 of 2580 is this possible?

Take 1 picture on the new card, rename it to 2580, the next one it takes should hopefully start at 2581.

Some cameras let you set the starting number too.
