Hey Y'all,

I have a Ryzen 5 1500X, 1060 6GB, 32 GB of RAM. I have recently started to really struggle to run some games. I couldnt get over 50 frames on low settings when I tried Battlefield 2042, the recent fortnite update has me struggling to maintain consistent frames at all low settings, etc. I know my parts are almost bottom of the line at this point, but i do think that i should be getting a little better performance. Is there anyway to check if something is being throttled?

Thank you!

Older 4 core will struggle on modern games.

Go to userbenchmark.com and run the test. Link the results here after.

Here are the results https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/57240783.

Here is a list of all my parts, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dryYMc. I have had this PC since 2017, and have only upgraded the RAM from 8gb to 32gb. I should probably build a new one soon. What parts from my current build could I salvage? I was thinking I could use the RAM, storage, and the fans. I would probably need new PSU if I upgraded to a Ryzen 7 and a 3070 graphics card, right?

You need to close anything in the background before running the test. Its showing 60% usage in the background.
Music apps, games, even the web browser you used to download it.

Even with the inaccurate test, your RAM appears to be running at base clock.

Install RAM in slots a2-b2. Enable XMP.

The 60% background use is outrageous!

Check RAM. Enable XMP in BIOS. Rerun test

I had like 5 chrome tabs open when running the test, but I dont think that would cause 60%. I'll move my ram and enable XMP in the bios like you said then rerun the test. I should be able to do it later today.

Here is the new test https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/57245589. I enabled XMP and moved my RAM. I cannot go above 2666 MHz unfortunately. I tried twice and my computer would run, but my monitors wouldnt turn on, and neither would my peripherals. I had to reset my CMOC to fix it. I dont know where that 13% CPU is coming from. i turned on my computer and ran the test. No windows were open in the background.

Yea, I was able to activate XMP mode, but I could only increase my RAM to 2666. I tried to increase to 2900 twice and both times my computer wouldnt start. Had to restart my Bios to get things working again. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/57245589 this was the new test with no chrome running in the background.
