How Can I Configure Windows 8 Ultra-Fast Boot UEFI GOP?

Windows 8 can be configured for Ultra-Fast Boot Unified Extensible Firmware Interface Graphics Output Protocol or UEFI GOP which remarkably increases the boot speeding of a Windows 8 computer. Some important aspects that administrators must consider while configuring Ultra-Fast Boot UEFI GOP for fast Windows 8 booting is that it only works when all the three conditions given below are met:

■The motherboard must be capable of supporting and handling the Ultra-Fast Boot UEFI GOP.

■The computer must have Windows 8 installed.

Since this feature is introduced to eliminate the need of legacy BIOS, it is essential that the graphics card, the motherboard, and the operating system must be capable of supporting and handling the Fast Boot UEFI GOP.

In order to make Windows 8 work with Fast Boot UEFI GOP, hybrid boot must be turned on.

How to Configure Ultra-Fast Boot UEFI GOP in Windows 8?

In order to configure Ultra-Fast Boot UEFI GOP in Windows 8, step-by-step instructions given below must be followed:

■Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account

■Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop screen.

■Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner of the window.

■From the displayed options, click Settings.

■On the Settings pane, click Control Panel.

■On the opened Control Panel window, click System and Security.

■On the System and Security window, click Power Options from the right pane.

■On the Power Options window, click Choose what the power buttons does option from the
left pane.

■On the System Settings window, click Change settings that are currently unavailable link to enable the advanced options.

■From the enabled options under Shutdown settings section, make sure that Turn on fast startup (recommended) checkbox is checked. (If not checked then check the checkbox to enable Hybrid Shutdown)





■Click Save changes button to save the modified settings.

■Once done, restart the computer.

■As the system restarts, press Delete or F2 button to enter into the bios. (The key for
entering into BIOS menu may differ according to the manufacturers of the motherboard)

■On the bios menu, configure the BIOS settings to make Windows 8 to boot with UEFI GOP support.

■Once done, press F10 key to save the changes and restart the system with UEFI GOP support.
