I've got a Lenovo ideapad 100. I did a system restore recently but it seemed to get stuck in the process. After a few hours I did a forced shutdown and now I get a blue screen with advanced options to repair the laptop none of which work. Is there a way I can get to the factory reset option. If I can would this solve the issue. Thanks.

Ps. I've tried all the troubleshoot options but it says there was a problem resetting your pc. It's only giving one date option for system restore but it says you must restore drive that contains windows. Does this mean my laptop is beyond repair now. Thanks.

This looks hopeful but I'm going to get a friend to save my documents externally before I do this. I'll let you know how we get on. Many thanks!

Sadly no luck yet. I pressed the Novo button and selected system recovery but was then taken back to the blue screen with the same options as before. This was refurbished when I bought it do maybe the onekey recovery can't be used again. I'll have to find another way.

I've just tried to factory reset my Lenovo ideapad using the Novo button but was unable to do it. I was given the initial drop down menu and opted for system restore but was just taken back to the blue screen with recovery options none of which work. Does anyone know how to get round this. I think the onekey recovery has been used before so maybe I've ran out of luck.

Possible the previous owner did a clean reinstall and wiped the Lenovo recovery partition. Many do this out of the box to get rid of factory installed bloatware.
Since the recovery is not working or gone, just try a clean reinstall.

The model is Lenovo ideapad 100-151BY and model name is 80MJ. It's been a great laptop so I'm hoping it's not beyond repair. Thanks for the advice and maybe I do not a fresh install. Is there a flash drive or anything else you'd recommend I use. Thanks.

Ps. Or maybe a windows 10 recovery disc is better?
No.

Any reasonable quality flash drive, 8GB or larger.

Thanks. I'll get one. I've never done this before. Is it pretty straightforward. I'll have to watch the tutorial in the previous posts.

I've just seen an Integral 8GB flash drive. The reviews seem good. It's £5.49. would this one be okay for the job? Thanks

In the end I've ordered a SanDisk cruzer blade usb with 16GB. Can I ask something. Windows 10 was on my laptop but after the last system restore got stuck, windows must be incomplete or broken in some way so if I do a fresh install does it first remove the old windows before it installs the fresh one. Thanks.

Doing a full OS install, you delete all existing partitions.
Wiping out the old OS completely.

Section II, Step 6 & 7 in this tutorial speaks to removing ALL exiting partitions.

Read through the whole thing to get familiar with the process.

Okay thanks I'll read all of that. There's nothing I need to keep so I'm happy to do a complete reinstall. It doesn't look as straightforward as I thought. There's a few things I need to be aware of such as registry.

The old Registry is of no concern. It was part of the old OS, and gets deleted along with the rest of it.

In the new install, there is little need for you to mess around in the Reg.

I've read this now. It'll be a few days before the flash drive arrives so I'll read this again. There's a couple of things. As I will be doing a fresh install wiping everything will I need to set up a new MSA and link the account to windows license again. I'll have to find out if when and how. Will I have to set BIOS. I'm trying to think if there's anything I ve forgotten about. Thanks.

"New MS account" - No!
You log in with your existing one. This is what will do the license linking.
