How can I download a photo from my laptop to my Nokia asha 300 phone?

I want to transfer a photo from my laptop to my Nokia 300 phone to use as wallpaper on the start up screen,plugged phone into laptop but nothing happens any ideas please? P.S.I am a total novice!
