How can I enable the 120hz or 144hz refresh rate without a DVI port.

Hello guys. I have purchased a monitor with 144hz refresh rate (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KO4518I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). However I don't know how to actually get the refresh rate to 144hz. My gaming laptop is MSI GE70 2OE with a GPU GTX765M, which only has a VGA and a hdmi port. I have I bought a hdmi 2.0 and the refresh rate can only go up to 60hz. I have done some research, I have two options that I am not really certin either will work.
1. Get a hdmi 1.4b, and at least the refresh can go up to 120hz.
2. Get a adapter to hdmi for the DVI cable included in the monitor.
I am not sure either one will work. Can anyone tell me a way that I can get to at least 120hz?

Look at the adapter. Are there two sets of nine connectors or one long strip going across? If there are two sets of nine, you're not gonna get 120hz. If its one long strip, you need to buy a dual link dvi cable. Make sure its dual link.
