How can I find the most compatible GPU?

I'm still new to all this so please forgive any faux pas. I'm looking to upgrade to a better GPU so I can run modern games. I have an Acer Aspire 5738, and have no idea what would be compatible with my current chipset, and also be able to run games like Code Hero, Path of Exile and Portal. Anyone have any recommendations?

If this is a laptop, you can't upgrade the GPU.

Thats why laptops are not ideal for gaming. they are good fro the fact that you can easily transport them but to play game you have to sped a boatload to just keep up with most modern titles. also they are not upgradeable short of maybe RAM. so I'm sorry to say you are sol

Thanks. I guess I somehow got it into my head that I could switch out the graphics card in my laptop for a higher functioning one. Like I said I'm new to this.
