How can I fix a problem with my local area connection adaptor driver?

My modem and router have been working fine for over a year. Suddenly I cannot connect to the internet. The diagnostic tells me there is a problem with the local area connection adaptor driver. How can I fix this problem? I have a DLink router and a Dell machine on Windows 7.

check the cable and make sure it is plug in right.

also try using a different port on the router

Uninstall and re-install the network card drivers from device manager. You can download the new drivers from Dell's site. On another computer of course and install with a flash drive or something.
