I accidentally bought mismatched ram. Is there any way i can make this config more stable in my build? Since installing the 1600 RAM my system has been locking up. Am i able to overclock the 1333 to 1600 so the speeds match?

You would be better off to just run the 1600mhz kit alone!

Otherwise you'll need to down clock the memory to the 1333mhz speed and timings, and then it still may not work if the voltages are different as well.

Would i lose performance running just the 2 1600 dims? Also would underclocking the 1600mhz to 1333 be better? 2 1600 dims=8gb or 4 1333= 16gb
Which would be the best solution

Personally I only run 8gb 2 x 4gb modules, why do you think you need to run 16gb of memory?

You're reporting OCing the FX4100, some MBs don't like OCing with all 4 slots occupied, it affects the stability!

It would have been better to have purchased a 16gb matched set of memory 2 x 8gb and run in the primary memory slots for dual channel operation.

Otherwise:
You would be better off to just run the 1600mhz kit alone!

You start altering speed, timings, and voltages as well, and your overall performance will suffer trying to run 2 mismatched 8gb kits.
