Question How can I get CD track title and artist info to appear in WMP?

Previously, whenever I insert a music disk , titles and artists are always displayed automatically

Looks like the metadata service has been discontinued:

Microsoft plans to shut down the metadata service for Windows Media Center entirely

It is unclear why Microsoft made the decision to terminate the metadata service this year and not next. Windows 7 runs out of support in January 2020; terminating the service then would certainly sit better with customers who use the service.

Thanks so much for the info, Barty1884. I suppose that just reflects the fact that not many folks make use of music on CDs any longer. Sad to hear that. I'm still old-fashioned, but at least I don't use 8-Track tapes any more
