How can I improve cooling using a stock intel cooler?

I'm using Arctic 5 thermal paste but the stock cooler doesn't seem to be coping with the demands of an i5 3570K, so idle temp is about 40-45ºC and the cpu maxes out at about 69ºC which seems to high for this processor.

So, is there a way I can improve cooling using the stock cooler? At least until I get myself a decent cooler?

Your max temp is within safe limits.

69C is well within safe limits.

That said, the best way to improve cooling from an Intel stock heatsink is to spend $25 and get a Hyper 212 Evo or something.
