Hello friends, I've a windows 7 running machine but I desperately need xp. I would have opted for clean install but my CD drive is dead. What can I do to install xp on 7 without using a CD drive?

If your computer supports USB Boot, on a working computer create a bootable Windows Pen drive.
You will still need a working CD/DVD Drive to copy the Windows XP setup files, but you probaby already figured how you're going to do that.... so check the instructions on how to either install Windows XP on a separate partition, or in a virtual enviroment in Windows 7 with Windows Virtual PC. If you have a single partition I'd recommended you install XP in Virtual PC to cut down on the hassle. To install on a different partition if you don't already have one, you'll need to install Minitool Partition Wizard to create a new partition and the free utility EasyBCD to edit the boot manager. You may need to download a few compatible drivers which may not be included in the Windows XP installation CD. You will also need to set the BIOS to boot the computer from the USB drive...
