How can I maintain home network to a Win7 pc while also removing all internet access from that Win7 pc? Or can a Win7 pc be connected to a Win10 pc via usb for small amounts of time? Or other suggestion?

Solution
So you want that pc to have access to the lan, but not the internet, correct?

This is usually done with a rule in your router to deny access to that particular system's IP address to anything but the lan.
Is that something I can follow V E R Y step by step? Is that USB connection possible? I will only use the old Win7 pc for movies etc after support stops.?

For a machine to get out of the local lan it must know the gateway, which is your router ip for home users. All you do is rig it so it does not have this information.

The simple way but you will have to do it every reboot is to use the command
ROUTE DELETE 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0

If you do not want to do it all the time you can assign you pc a fixed ip address in the ipv4 network settings and leave the gateway and dns blank.

This is another way to do it too, although doing through the router allows you to quickly undo it if need be.

Thanks very much, I will discuss this with my isp, I see on-line instructions for access regulations, but will talk to isp first. Thanks for steering me in a good direction.
Just for info: This old ACER has tried for 4 years to keep up with Win10, but both ACER and MSoft reply that it is not physically capable of Win10. I just can't force myself to junk it. Thanks again. JimK

Your ISP wouldn't be keen on setting up a rule like this--you would have to do it if the router allows.

If not, the other route deletion solution or static IP without a gateway works equally well.

If the Acer is past its time, I usually install the best running OS on it (xp, vista, win7, etc) and then just lock it down with timefreez or rebootrestorerx and continue to use it, just rebooting it daily and not using it for anything sensitive. I've still got old socket 478 pentium 4 systems I still use this way. :) A working system should stay a working system imo. 😉
