I know that, my question is since w10 supports multiple desktops can I use a mirrowed desktop use it normally, set the audio tru hdmi and then switch back to my desktop where I can set the audio tru headphones. That way my brother can watch movies with the tv speakers while i am gaming

Maybe.

Use an extended desktop.

Set your headset as the default audio device.

Set you video player's audio device to the tv speakers.

The multiple desktops thing in W10 isn't, uhh, what it sounds like, i guess. It's only to make it easier to keep your "work" separate, but I haven't seen a way to actually use it for anything useful yet.
