I do realise that I need the i7-4790k to properly overclock, but I'm curious to see what I can do with my own i7-4790 (non K). Apparently user callDevil managed to overclock his i7-4790 to 4.22 GHz.
I tried to do what he did, but on my Intel XTU the "Reference Clock" thing is locked and I can't put it to 105.5589MHZ like suggested. Here's how it looks like to me (it also seems I have a newer version): http://i.imgur.com/bBS4pTB.png
I went to my BIOS (which is different from his, an American Megatrends one), and there's not a single option for overclocking. The closest is the Intel Turbo Boost thing, which was already on...
So, what am I doing wrong?
