Hey Guyz I have Dell XPS 630i And it's running Quite well ...
I wanna overclock my Cpu (Q6600) clocked at 2.4 ghz to 3 ghz ? (and is it safe to overclock on my particular mobo and pc )..
Sorry i'm a newbie :)
Need a Simple Method For it :)

Full Specs :-

Dell XPS 630i
Processor = Intel Core(TM) 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4 ghz 8 mb cache )
Ram = 8gb ddr2 Ram (667 mhz)
Motherboard = Nvidia nForce 650i SLI Mobo
Hdd = 250gb WD hdd 7200 rpm
GPU = Sapphire ATi Radeon HD 4870 (1 GB GDDR5)
Psu = Antec 550w

I would not recommend to OC any branded PCs.
They have only stock processor cooler and the PSU is always chosen with almost no head-room for the whole system.
This is one of the reason why it is better to build your own PC than buying built systems from HP, Dell, Acer, Lenovo, etc.

the fsb would be 2400/9 = 266/267, cpu ration would be between 6 and 9 (sorry OP, I am O/C ing a Q6600 as well)

You have the capability to reach 3 ghz on your current hardware (unless motherboard bios settings are locked) but I am unsure whether you have a B0 or a G0 stepping cpu (G0 overclocks better) but that can be checked in CPU-Z, as well as the fact your cooler will probably only be able to get it up to 2.7 Ghz before you hit a high temperature.

I used these guides for overclocking.

Tcase is the actual processor, and Tjunction is the individual cores -happy overclocking :)

remember to not go over 1.5 volts when overclocking , and if it hits anything higher than 70 decrees Celsius per core then you should dial back the clocks a bit.

Your wasting your time the Dell 630 has locked BIOS no overclocking.
If anybody that has responded to your post actually had any knowledge they would know this.

What will be my safe temp ? Btw all fans are on stock and stock cooler !
See the Temp's And Fsb etc :-
