How can I play disk games on a laptop with no disk drive?

I recently bought a gaming laptop that has no disk drive in it because I decided to go for the SLI option instead. Recently, I have had this dire need to play Command and Conquer Generals.

I have tried to copy the disk files from a different computer and transfer them over via usb. Doing this I was able to successfully install the game, however I can't play it because it asks for the disk. I tried messing around a little bit with power iso trying to mount things, but it was to no avail as I have very little experience with the program.

So, how can I play disk game on a laptop with no disk drive?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

We can't help you since the way to not use your cd is illegal.

Play games on Steam or similar service, but then again, they cost money, which you lack at the moment.

I'm pretty sure it will.  If anything, just get another one.  They all do the same thing.  I hope I helped :D

you could make a image of the cd/dvd on another computer and put the image on a thumb drive, and then mount the image of the cd/dvd on a phantom cd/dvd drive.

I think I know the issue you had with power iso. You need an iso of the cd, then when you mount the iso it'll work. I believe you just copied the files off the cd and tried to mount the files. That won't work. You can create an iso from the files you copied off of it. http://www.poweriso.com/tutorials/iso-creator.htm

I agree with previous posters on using a CD-drive emulator.

You state that the machine doesn't have a disk drive. Am I correct in my interpretation that it lacks a CD/DVD drive but does have a disk drive? In that case, any good application that presents an image as a CD will work. I use one myself, but I've forgotten the name. The ISO image can be on your hard drive if you have room for it, or you can burn a bunch to a thumb drive.

If you do this, please keep the original CD as a sort of proof that you own it and are not pirating the game.
