How can I reduce case vibration?

I decided to build myself a 'desk-chassis-thing' and, as it turns out, wood is a nightmare for acoustics. Everything is ten times louder. What would anyone recommend to reduce the noise caused by the hard drives and fans?

I was tempted to buy a couple of those mats that you put under a washing machine but I'm a bit hesitant as they aren't the cheapest things, it would still leave the fans causing a lot of noise too.

So, yeah. Any help is appreciated 🙂

Solution
You can probably buy a smaller fan for the inside of your computer, or there are other fans you can get that run silently.

Since your hard drive is making noises, you would want to back up your hard drive data to an external drive (loud hard drive noises usually signal it can become inoperable at any time)

You can defragment your hard drive (if its not ssd) using a program called defraggler to help reduce the noise too

Not sure you read the question properly, it's not an issue with the components being loud themselves, they are just causing some vibration against the wooden case and then being amplified due to the acoustics.

I could get some grommets, how do you think they'd compare to maybe a sheet of foam? (with a square cut out for airflow of course)

There is no ONE magic solution, everything you do contributes a little bit toward quietness. Check out silentpcreview.com forums and see what folks have done.
