When I start Windows it seems like it takes 10 minutes to load, and even then as soon as I try to start a browser it seems to get lost and run in circles! Also my resolution on my screen changes during boot-up while everything else is trying to sync in and I end up having to disable/enable the video card for it to get the correct settings. The rest of the time the PC seems to run pretty well.

You can do a repair install, also known as an in-place upgrade. It will basically re-install Windows 7 but does not affect files and programs. Of course having said that, you may have some issues after with programs but in my experience this has been minimal and really much less work than a clean install.

Sounds to me like you are having video card issues, which one do you have?
