How Can I Take Priority Over A PS4 Connected Straight to my Router?

First off, thank you for taking your time to read my post and potentially help me out. So I'm a gamer. I like to play games like Overwatch, Counter-Strike, etc. So when I'm lagging, I get a little angry. My dad however, has been in love with his PS4 because he can stream Netflix off of it. He has it set up right next to our router and has it plugged in through ethernet for reasons that I don't know why. I have told him that when he streams off of Netflix while it's hardwired to the router, it lags insanely lags me. However, for some reason, he will not just use a wireless connection.

So here comes my question, is there any way that I can take priority, having a wireless connection, over his wired connection? I have tried doing things with QoS, but nothing has really worked. I have a D-Link DIR-836L router if that helps in any way. If you need to know anything that could potentially help, feel free to ask. I'm willing to do nearly anything because running around at 150+ ping at all times has really started to frustrate me.

Thank you for the incredibly helpful solution.

Basically, what I'm saying is that this is a human situation, not a technical situation.

If one of my kids wanted to take over the router function to prioritize their gaming over my use, without the two of us coming to a meeting of the minds....
...we'd have an issue. A major issue.

I get that your gaming situation is important to you. His use is important to him.
You guys need to talk about this, and come to a compromise.

In my house, there would have been no 'take priority', unless that person is paying the actual bill.

So let's investigate:
What is the up/down speed you pay the ISP for?
What speed do you get via WiFi, when testing to speedtest.net?
DSL/Cable/fiber?
Is there some specific reason your system can't be wired? Or at least a powerline solution? WiFi is the absolute last connection type you want to use.

I believe it's 15 or 20 down with 1 or 2 up, when testing on speedtest.net I get ~12 down and a little under 1 up.
ISP is Time Warner Cable, so cable. And my computer is set up upstairs in my room, with the router downstairs underneath me in the living room. I have asked my dad if we could send an ethernet cable up the wall, through the ground and to my room since my room is directly above where the router is placed, but he said we'd do it next week about 4 months ago.
