how can i tell what BIOS a MB has

how can i tell what BIOS a MB has before i buy one? i want to change to a new mobo and CPU but not sure how i can tell what BIOS the mobo has already so i dont need a BIOS update to work with any said CPU

AM3+ CPU FX 4130 + ASUS M5A97 R2.0

With that board you can use the flashback for flashing the BIOS (if necessary). When receiving the board, check a barcode sticker on the motherboard (not on the box). The last 4 digits on that sticker stand for the BIOS version.
If older than 1602, then you can use the flashback.
