Hey all, i just bought a used ASUS GeForce GTX 960 TURBO-GTX960-OC-2GD5 2GB from ebay. It was really cheap 100 euros, but it was not bought by an official store, just some user that sold his old GPU after upgrading (at least so he said). Unfortunately it is out of Asus warranty should problems arise.

How can i test if the GPU is working as it should? Maybe run some stress tests?
I have to do all tests asap, since i only have 30 days to return it it's not working properly.
Do you know if ebay can protect me in case the seller tried to scam me?

Solution
Prime95 is for the CPU but a benchmark such as Heaven would work fine, test before and after the GPU is put into the system. Also check usage with the CPU/GPU with HWmonitor.

Right now i have an a8-9600 APU with only Leage of Legends installed on HDD. Since it is an old 120Gb HDD it's hard to download huge modern games (and i will have to own them too i guess which is not easy right now since i am broke), but maybe i can try to also download warthunder which is more gpu demanding than LOL.
Will any benchmark or stress test programs like unigine or prime 95 also do the trick?

How should i run the heaven test, is there some settings or a number of runs? Also what should be looking for when checking cpu/gpu usage in HWmonitor?

Thank you for helping me!

Thanks again, i will have the card tomorrow probably. I will start tests and if i have no more problems or questions i will mark one of your answers as the solution to close the thread.

You have received good answers. You might want to install MSI Afterburner so you can monitor temperature, GPU load and clocks. I have a used GTX 970 that runs but will not clock up. I googled it and this is a common enough problem with this card that I got some hits. First time that has happened to me. That being said, I have had excellent results with used cards off eBay. One was definitely bad and I was able to use Ebay to get all of my money back. The 970 I didn't test right away so I am out of luck.

I got the card and it seems to be working so far. I am running the heaven test and my score seems to be low, just 810 in ultra settings with extreme tesselation. I noticed that the vram speed is 3505 when it should be 7000mhz. Also the clock speed is higher than supposed at about 1450mhz. Msi afterburner shows same values while program is running. Max temps i saw after around 15 min running it was 75c.

Edit: it appears to be showing half speed because it's the real speed (DDR so 3500*2=7000MHz) Thanks for your help guys, marked as solved.
