How can I transfer Files with different operating system

I have a laptop with windows XP operating system and another with windows 7 operating system. I want to transfer files from OS7 to XP laptop. How can I do that? I have broadband connection with dlink modem. Is it possible using a networking cable?

The easiest way is to copy the files to a usb external drive and then copy them back to the other pc.

Networking setup via Ethernet is a possibility, but XP might have some problems with doing that.

But the volume of data is more than 100 gb. It is tedious via usb port

Do you have a external USB backup device?
If you don't, you should if you value the files.
A laptop can be stolen or damaged via fire/virus... etc,
USB 2.0 and 3.0 are forward and backward compatible.
Buy a usb3.0 device such as this:

It does not take as long as you might think, particularly if you have usb3.0
