So I own an old HP Probook 4330s and the screen has a crack. I have two questions. 1. How can I make it so it only uses the monitor I plug in? 2. What's the highest resolution the HDMI port on the laptop can support.

Solution
Should support 1080p.

You'll need to connect the monitor, and then once in the Windows desktop environment right click the desktop, select Display properties and check the box next to "make this my primary display" and then set it to "show only on display 2" in the drop down menu. Save settings and confirm when prompted.
