If a storage device has been infected by a virus and you can no longer see the files inside it chances are it has been corrupted and has been deleted.

any anti-virus program will scan an usb device if that program is directed to scan that device. there are free programs thatn will recover supposedly deleted files like recuva https://www.piriform.com/recuva
