How can the socket pins bend?

I have not used any 4th gen MB as yet, but fail to understand how can anybody bend the pins even accidentally.
It must be a design flaw because once the
CPU goes into the socket, the rest of the mechanics is automatically handled by locking the socket (with that little lever).
So unless the CPU has some physical deformity such as a bent pin, or misplaced on the socket, there should be no way to damage any pin-- of the socket or the CPU.

Solution
Typically, people don't manage to put the CPU in the slot properly, or shove a corner against the pins while aligning it.

I haven't seen much difference between the number of people complaining about LGA 775, 1156, 1155, and 1150. I think it's just that people aren't careful enough when putting the CPU in.

Solution
on pre install of the cpu the pins can be bent if the shipper tosses the mb and the black protection cover bends and hits the pins or shipping stuff in the new mb box hit the cpu cover in shipping and cause it to hit the pins. intel and mb vendors have changed how the protection cover is removed now on intel mb. old way was to pop it out. a lot of times it would pop out and people with a tool would crush the pins of the cpu slot. now most mb vendor want you to leave it in and it pops out when the cpu is locked down. most times of bending of the pins is people dropping the cpu chip. some people eat snacks when building and patato chip grease and small parts dont mix.
